Welcome to the Westmead Hospital's Women's and Newborn Health website. Westmead Hospital has been providing specialist care to women and babies from New South Wales since 1978. This website was developed in 2016 in the hope that information and inspiring stories would support and enhance the health experience of patients and families seeking care at Westmead Hospital and throughout NSW.
The Westmead Women's and Newborn Health team are committed to improving the health and wellbeing of all women and newborn infants. We provide specialist services in maternity, gynaecology, women's cancer and the care of newborn infants. Even though our patients range from tiny premature babys to mature women, our principles for the provision of care are the same for all:
-
Providing family centred care
- Providing timely access to care
- Improving the patient and family/carer experience
- Providing a ‘one stop shop’ for comprehensive care
- Providing access to quality, multidisciplinary care focused to the individual’s needs
- Emphasising prevention or early intervention where possible.
More families choose to birth their babies supported by Westmead Hospital staff than any other hospital in NSW. Other families entrust the health of their mothers, grandmothers, daughters and sisters to our team. We do not underestimate this responsibility.
Westmead Hospital is a major teaching hospital and active research programs in each of our specialties ensure that the staff we train and the care we provide continues to be world class. Support for these programs by the public and generous benefactors is greatly appreciated.
The Westmead Women’s & Newborn Health service is a large dynamic organisation. If you appreciate the care we provide or in turn, feel that we could do better, please take advantage of our feedback portal. Every comment is reviewed by senior staff and taken seriously.
The Westmead Hospital's Women’s and Newborn Health team wish you and your loved ones all the best in your health journey.
