The Public Health Act 2010 and Public Health Regulation 2022 regulates the storage and preparation of the bodies of deceased persons by the funeral industry and members of the public for burial or cremation. Public Health Units are required to keep a register of Mortuaries within their local health district. Officers from Public Health Units or from Local Council can inspect mortuaries if required.
