Western Sydney Local Health District Multicultural Resource Hub

Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) provides health services to some of the most culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) local government areas in New South Wales. To minimise health risks and enhance the quality of services and health outcomes for such a diverse population, Multicultural Health works with communities and health professionals to ensure that all services and programs within WSLHD are culturally appropriate and accessible to people from CALD communities.

Two Key Focus Areas of the service:

  1. Working with CALD communities to identify and effectively address priority health issues for specific ethnic groups: health literacy, understanding of health risks and issues, access to assessment, screening, services and programs focusing on chronic disease prevention and management.
  2. Working within the WSLHD to enhance the capacity of the health system to meet the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse consumers and communities and to respond to policies and accountability requirements.
