LGBTQIA+ Workforce Plan
Welcome to WSLHD's LGBTQIA+ Workforce Plan
Our LGBTQIA+ Workforce Plan 2022 - 2026 aims to deliver high-quality, safe, inclusive and responsive healthcare to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and asexual (LGBTQIA+) community.
We want to act with deep curiosity, to better understand the lived experience of WSLHD LGBTQIA+ staff community and to take action to improve feelings of inclusion.
The WSLHD LGBTIQIA+ Workforce Plan was developed in line with the NSW LGBTIQ+ Health Strategy that aims to celebrate and strengthen diversity, inclusion and belonging in our health system.
This Workforce plan is our first step towards growing our LGBTQIA+ staff community and ally networks. We want to make WSLHD a safe place for people to show up as they are – knowing that all genders and sexual identities are respected and share equal opportunity. The strategic priorities for WSLHD over the next five years are:
-
Demonstrate our organisational commitment to LGBTQIA+ inclusion across employee lifecycle
-
Promote a culture of inclusion to enhance human experience for our people and our patients
-
Establish connections to community and ally networks to support the needs of LGBTQIA+ community
-
Break the bias by enabling a more equitable talent and patient care experience
WSLHD’s LGBTQIA+ Workforce Plan was codesigned with our employees across the district through employee listening sessions and online surveys.
We received representation across each of our WSLHD divisions including Allied Health, Medical, Nursing and Midwifery. Survey respondents were both LGBTQIA+ identifying (47%) and non-identifying (53%).
