Having an active school playground helps children get the recommended 150 minutes of physical activity every day.

Studies show that children who are active at lunchtime are less fidgety, more motivated, and in a better mood in class. This helps them learn and feel good which is important for their wellbeing.

You can create a supportive outdoor playground by including:

  • Playground markings
  • Permanent outdoor play equipment
  • Sports gear available for students to borrow
  • Covered areas for different weather (rain or extreme heat)
  • Schedules for playground use if space is limited
  • Access to other outdoor play areas like nearby fields and parks
