Perioperative nursing is a dynamic and principle based specialty, requiring nurses to develop advanced knowledge and complex skills to deliver patient centred care within a dynamic and diverse interdisciplinary team.

The Transition to Practice (T2P) program is designed for WSLHD registered nurses (yr2) or above. Its purpose is to provide novice perioperative clinicians with the opportunity to expand their graduate knowledge and experience into the complex area of perioperative nursing.
The program is conducted in ‘streams’ – participants will be allocated to either Anaesthetics/ PARU nursing stream, or Instrument / Circulating nurse stream. Within these streams, Participants will develop an understanding of the importance of each role, and gain the necessary skills and theoretical knowledge to practice safely in the perioperative environment.

Eligibility criterion:

  • Current employee of WSLHD
  • RN2 or above
  • Currently a full time employee at WSLHD
