Borrowing

You can borrow a maximum of 10 items for a period of 3 weeks. Items will be automatically renewed three times unless reserved by someone else. For more information visit Westmead and Auburn Hospital Library Terms and Conditions

Registration 

If you are an Auburn Hospital staff member you can fill in the staff registration form. If you are a Notre Dame medical student you can fill in the student registration form.
Library staff will finalise your registration and let you know when you can start to borrow using the self-checkout and login to the catalogue.


Catalogue 

You can find items to borrow using the Library Catalogue which can be used to find items available for borrowing at Libraries within the Western Sydney Local Health District, Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District and The Sydney Children's Hospitals Network. 

Renew and reserve items

Items will be automatically renewed three times unless reserved by someone else. You will get an email when the item is due back.

You can reserve items from another library to be picked up at Auburn Hospital library by logging in to the

 Library Catalogue or by contacting us

Computers and Technology

Computers 

All staff and clinical students are welcome to use the available kiosk computers to access the intranet, internet, complete mandatory training and access eResources such as the Library Catalogue and the Clinical Information Access Portal. 

Wi-Fi 

Free WiFi is available in the hospital. Notre Dame students on placement can use EduRoam.

Multi-function device

There is a multi-function device available for work-related purposes that can print, scan and photocopy using a staff card.

Other Equipment

Other equipment includes a laminator, guillotine and a charging station.

Interlibrary loans and document delivery

Interlibrary loans and document delivery is a service to obtain copies of journal articles and book chapters as well as loans of books when they are not accessible through eResources.  

You can request an interlibrary loan or document delivery by filling in the Westmead and Auburn Hospital Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery Request Form or follow the article request links in CIAP/Ovid.

Literature Searches

A literature search is a systematic search using a wide breadth of information resources to obtain references on a specific topic.

You can request a literature search by completing a Westmead and Auburn Hospital Library Literature Search Request Form

Meeting room and video conferencing

Bookings 

You can book the Audio-Visual meeting room with video conferencing functionality by emailing [email protected] with your: 
  • meeting subject 
  • date and time 
  • whether video conferencing is required

Purchasing Items

You can request an item be purchased for the library or your department by filling in the Westmead and Auburn Hospital Library Purchasing Request Form

 

Training

Auburn Hospital Library provides training to help you improve your information and research skills. Training topics include beginner and advanced searching using databases such as Medline and PubMed, the Clinical Information Access Portal (CIAP), effective search strategies, evidence-based practice, EndNote and keeping up to date.  

 

Scheduled and tailored sessions 

You can sign up for scheduled training sessions using My Health Learning.  
You can arrange one-on-one or group training, in-services or library orientations by contacting us
