Blacktown Cancer & Haematology Centre
The new Blacktown Cancer & Haematology Centre is one of four major centres of the Sydney West Cancer Network where a comprehensive range of ambulatory cancer care services are available. An integrated and coordinated service is provided to cancer patients and their carers from a multidisciplinary team approach.
The medical and surgical specialists, together with nursing staff, administrative staff, pharmacists and allied health staff work as a team to provide a high level of care to all patients.
The Blacktown Cancer & Haematology Centre is the first facility in Australia to have a lounge where patients can rest during their chemotherapy treatment. The ‘Chemo Lounge’ is just one of the features of our new comprehensive cancer care centre.
With a separate entry and dedicated parking area, the centre includes welcoming reception, treatment, counselling and education areas.
The centre was designed with the help of representatives from our Cancer Support Group, who were invited by the architects and planners to share their first-hand experience of cancer treatment with the team in order to improve the design of the centre. Areas were organised to create a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for patients and visitors.
The Blacktown Cancer & Haematology Centre is part of the Sydney West Cancer Network and as such has access to the full range of comprehensive multidisciplinary care that may be needed in the care of our patients.
