Youth Council

WSLHD places high value on youth participation to involve young people as active members of the decision-making processes for issues that affect their healthcare. The WSLHD Youth Council is made up of young people aged 16-25years. Its role is to provide information and local perspectives to improve the quality and safety of healthcare, the provision of patient-centred and youth-friendly healthcare and improve the health of young people in western Sydney.

The Youth Council, alongside WSLHD Youth Health Services, organised a Youth Health Forum in October 2023. The day aimed to gather young people from Western Sydney together to discuss the theme of ‘what does mental health and wellbeing mean to you’, which included an array of workshops, a Q & A panel with staff from WSLHD and advocates from the community with a lived experience, and an expo of services.  Click here to read the WSLHD Youth Forum report
