Ambulatory Surgical Unit Ambulatory Surgical Unit is for patients requiring Oral Surgery, Paediatric Dentistry and Special Care Dentistry treatment under general anaesthesia and treatment of Malignant Hyperthermia Muscle biopsy, Opthalmics and Westmead Fertility patients.

Westmead Centre for Oral Health provides public oral health services in an integrated service comprising two community dental clinics at Blacktown Hospital and Mt Druitt Hospital and one tertiary centre, the Westmead Centre for Oral Health. (02) 8890 6766

Emergency Department
Westmead hospitals emergency department is open 24 hours a day, including public holidays. The role of emergency departments is to care for all emergencies. An emergency is when an illness or injury is serious and requires urgent attention. (02) 8890 5555
Endoscopy The Westmead Hospital Endoscopy Department is a large, tertiary referral unit performing a wide range of basic and advanced endoscopy procedures.

One of the core services provided by the unit is high quality screening examinations for patients referred as part of the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program. To improve timely access to this service we have developed a Rapid Access Faecal Occult Blood Test (FOBT) Clinic for patients with positive faecal occult blood tests.

Institute of Clinical Pathology and Medical Research The Institute for Clinical Pathology and Medical Research (ICPMR) is located at Westmead Hospital and is the main referral lab for the Pathology West Network which covers approximately 70% of NSW.
