Carer Support

Our Carer Programs cater to the needs of carers by providing better access to information, services and support.

Who is a carer?

Carers come from all walks of life and may be partners, parents, siblings, children, friends or neighbours of the people they care for.

A carer is a person who regularly provides support to a family member or friend because of illness, disability, mental health issues or frail age. Carers are not paid for this role, though they may receive a Centrelink allowance or payment.

A carer may provide assistance with a range of activities including; personal care, health care, communication, housework, meal preparation, medication management, transport, social and emotional support, financial management, substitute decision making and other aspects of the person’s daily life.
