Aboriginal Liaison Officers
We understand the importance of carers for Aboriginal patient’s wellbeing and support. Aboriginal patients and carers have the option to access Aboriginal Liaison Officers. An Aboriginal Liaison Officer can provide you with support and information on navigating the health system and your health care. Often Aboriginal Liaison Officers can bridge clinical communication barriers and act as an advocate for patients and carers on health and Aboriginal culture issues.
Aboriginal Liaison Officers are available at Auburn, Westmead, Cumberland, Blacktown and Mount Druitt.

Aboriginal Family Room and Keeping Place (to be opened mid-2020)
Aboriginal families, visitors, carers and patients have access to the Aboriginal Family Room and Keeping Place, this is accessible 24 hours through a social worker or security.
The Aboriginal Family Room and Keeping Place is located opposite the Westmead Adults Emergency Department.
