Dr Indika Alahakoon
Dr Indika Alahakoon [MBBS, PhD, FRANZCOG, DDU, CMFM] is a Senior Staff Specialist of the Westmead Institute for Maternal fetal medicine.
Dr Alahakoon graduated with first class Honours at the Sydney Medical School (Sydney University) and is Clinical Senior Lecturer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, completing a PhD on the role of monocytes and angiogenic factors in the cause of fetal growth restriction and pre-eclampsia, in 2007 Dr Alahakoon was awarded the Ella Macknight Research Scholarship from the RANZCOG Research Foundation for this work.
Dr Alahakoon has been involved in numerous research projects examining structural anomalies in the fetus, fetal growth restriction, stillbirth and pre-eclampsia. She speaks fluent Sinhalese.

Dr. Prayatna Shetty
Dr Prayatna (Yana) Shetty (MBBS, M.D, DRANZCOG, FRANZCOG, CMFM) is an obstetrician and a Maternal and Fetal medicine specialist. Dr Shetty works as a staff specialist in Maternal and Fetal Medicine Department in Westmead public Hospital where she runs a high-risk pregnancy clinic as well as provides tertiary fetal ultrasound services to women. Dr Shetty has been awarded M.D in Obs and gynae from Kolkata university in India where she received academic gold medal for her research. She then pursued further training in UK before finally moving to Australia. Dr Shetty’s special research interests include Fetal growth restriction, fetal steroids, and twin pregnancies. She is actively involved in training and student teaching. Apart from English, she speaks many languages including Hindi, Bengali, Punjabi and Urdu.
