We want to make healthy eating and active living
the easy choice for everyone!

With 1 in 2 adults and 1 in 4 children in NSW overweight or obese, health risks are on the rise. Let’s work together to make it easy to live well! By being active every day and making healthy food choices, we can prevent diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and some cancers.

What does healthy eating look like?

  • Choose water as a drink
  • Have 3 regular main meals
  • Choose healthy snacks between main meals (fruit, vegetables, yoghurt)

What does being active look like?

  • Turn off screens and spend time outdoors
  • Choose active travel (walk, ride a bike or take public transport)
  • Move more throughout the day! Get up and move every hour, use the stairs instead of the lift, park further away and walk to the shops/ work, and get active with family and friends on weekends!

We have FREE programs for adults and children to help make healthy eating and active living choices easy! Taking small steps together we can change our thinking about how to live well.

The Make Healthy Normal Campaign aims to motivate people to reassess their lifestyle choices and create a new, healthy normal. NSW Health runs a range of free initiatives to help you make healthy normal.

A partnership with St Vincent de Paul Parramatta Central Council aims to improve the health and well being of populations experiencing the most disadvantage. To find out more contact the HEAL team or visit one of the 21 Vinnies stores in western Sydney.

Healthy Food and Drink Framework in health facilities

We're working with our local hospitals to help make the healthy choice and easy choice Over the coming months you'll start to see changes in western Sydney hsopitals cafes and vending machines as a new approach to healthy food and drink provision for staff and visitors is rolled out.
