Amputee physiotherapy service
Westmead Hospital has the largest amputee service in NSW.
Westmead Hospital physiotherapy amputee service provides assessment and rehabilitation for upper limb and lower limb inpatient amputees.
Any inpatient at Westmead Hospital who has had a recent amputation or is about to undergo an amputation is referred to the amputee physiotherapy service for ongoing management.
Current inpatients at Westmead Hospital will be referred to their closest amputee service and clinic on discharge for ongoing management.
Those who have undergone their amputation at another hospital and require ongoing physiotherapy at Westmead Hospital can be referred directly to the physiotherapy department or to the amputee clinic for assessment.
The amputee clinic
The amputee clinic is conducted at Westmead Hospital's university clinics every second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 2pm.
Outpatients may be referred directly to these clinics by faxed referral from medical officers or general practitioners.
