Cumberland Hospital is the largest mental health facility in NSW and the oldest in Australia.
It was gazetted on 29 December 1849 as a public asylum for the reception and custody of mental health patients. Western Sydney Local Health District is proud to commemorate the historic 175 year anniversary of mental health services at Cumberland Hospital.
Western Sydney community members recently attended a community event to mark 175 years since Cumberland Hospital opened.
