Kids Gym for preschool children
Kids Gym is a free supported playgroup that will help your child learn,
play and grow through outdoor play, craft activities, songs and story time.
What we do
Kids Gym makes children’s development and learning fun!
Each 75 minute session includes:
- a welcome and warm-up song
- outdoor playtime for gross motor skill development (e.g. jumping, running, climbing)
- craft activities for fine motor development (e.g. using a pencil, drawing, cutting with scissors)
- story time for language development
- fruit time to encourage healthy eating
Who we care for
Children aged 2-5 years who live in the 2770 postcode suburbs of Mount Druitt.
There is also a free childcare service for younger siblings under 2 years of age.
How to access this service
Kids Gym operates during school terms on a Thursday and Friday. Each session is 75 minutes long, and different group session times are available. Bookings are essential.

Is there a cost for this service?
Kids Gym is free if you have a Medicare card and live in the 2770 postcode suburbs of Mount Druitt.
Who will I meet at my appointment?
What can I expect at my first appointment?
When you arrive at the Community Health Centre, a receptionist will greet you. The receptionist will tell the Kids Gym staff know you have arrived, and will ask you to wait in the waiting area.
During the Kids Gym session you will have a chance to socialise with other families in your community.
You will take part in activities with your child during the group sessions.
You can also speak to Kids Gym staff about any concerns you may have about your child’s growth, behaviour or development.
What do I need to bring to my appointments?
- appropriate footwear and a hat for outdoor play is essential
- appropriate clothing for craft/painting/messy play is also recommended
- please bring a piece of fruit or vegetable to cut up and share among the group during snack time as well
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No. Referrals from a GP are not required.
Do you speak a language other than English?
A free and confidential interpreter service, including Auslan, is available. Ask staff to arrange an interpreter for you.
