Centre for Research into Adolescents' Health CRASH

The Department of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine has a strong national and international research program under the leadership of the Centre for Research into Adolescents’ Health (CRASH). CRASH was formed to provide an organisational environment in which good quality research programs could be promoted, developed, integrated, managed and supported.

The Patron of CRASH, Her Excellency, Professor Marie Bashir, Governor of NSW, officially launched the Centre for Research into AdolescentS’ Health (CRASH) in 2003.

The mission of CRASH is to promote the health of young Australians through clinical and public health research, informed policy, promoting better clinical practice, educating professionals and informing health consumers.

CRASH research programs

Guiding principle
Providing an evidence base of sound clinical and epidemiological research will help to improve the health and well being of young people and their families.
The research programs address many of the major causes of morbidity and mortality among young people. Many of the projects are strongly oriented towards “practice”, being directed more toward improved clinical care and outcomes, better public health practice and enhanced health policy.

Research program opportunities

Department of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine staff can supervise or co-supervise Honours, Masters and PhD students in research projects and do value their contribution to the research program.
