Announcing 2020 Westmead Hospital Foundation 2020 Grants Program
The Westmead Hospital Foundation has announced grants are available for researchers and clinicians from Westmead Hospital to tackle some of the most debilitating diseases affecting our community.
The funds have been made possible thanks to generous legacy gifts received by the Westmead Hospital Foundation. Joe Conneely, CEO of Westmead Hospital Foundation said:
“Supporting Westmead Hospital is at the heart of everything we do. Every gift we receive at the Foundation makes a difference and helps us to ensure our work can continue in supporting medical research and patient care provided by the dedicated staff at Westmead Hospital. Those who leave a legacy are making a commitment to help change the lives of future generations".
Grants are available for the following specific areas:
The Ross & Josephine Redfern Bequest
1. Haematology Research and support Applications between $50,000 and $100,000
The Ronald Atkins Bequest
2. Prostate Cancer Research Applications between $50,000 and $200,000
The John Szabo Bequest
3. Renal Research Applications between $50,000 and $200,000

Eligibility:
1. The Chief Investigator (applicant) must be employed by Westmead Hospital or University of Sydney and working predominantly on the Westmead Adult Precinct (WH).
2. Research must be undertaken primarily on the Westmead Campus
3. Research subject must be specific to one of the Bequest subjects
Evaluation criteria:
Applications that meet the eligibility criteria will proceed to evaluation according to the following criteria:
1. Research Proposal scientific quality (40%)
2. Significance, innovation and strategic impact (30%)
3. Track record relevant to the proposal with respect to opportunity (30%)
Submission should be of two MS Word files and two PDF files:
1. The full submissions as an MS Word file and a PDF (which includes the signatures of applicant and head of department). and
2. The investigator biographies as an MS Word file and a PDF.
