Overview:
Resus4Kids Short Practical Course (90 mins) and eLearning component (90 mins)
RESUS4KlDS is a paediatric life support training program for health care rescuers who may be involved in the initial resuscitation of an infant or child in respiratory or cardiac arrest The course is generic and designed for an interdisciplinary audience including medical and nursing students, paramedics, practicing doctors and nurses and allied health workers
By the end of the 90 minute practical course participants will be able to:

Explain why good TEAMWORK AND COMMUNICATION are essential for optimal outcomes in resuscitation (use names, allocate and accept roles)

Manage an infant or child’s AIRWAY (opens and clears the airway and maintains it open)

Perform effective BREATHING (slow breaths with chest rise)

Demonstrate effective minimal interruption cardiac COMPRESSIONS (push hard, push fast, allow full chest recoil)

Recognise and provide initial management of shockable and non-shockable cardiac RHYTHMS

Demonstrate knowledge of safe DEFIBRILLATION
Target Audience:
All staff working with paediatrics.
Pre-requisite to DETECT Junior
Dates:
3 times per year in AIMSi and upon request. Check heti online.
There are qualified trainers across BMDH in ED, AIMSi and paediatrics
