Diabetes and Endocrinology Ambulatory Care Centre (DEACC)

We are on LEVEL 1 in the C-D BLOCK at Westmead Hospital.

We provide Outpatient / Inpatient services to people with diabetes and their family and carers. Health Promotion activities are also conducted for the community living in and around Western Sydney. These services are also available to people of Non-English Speaking Background.

The Centre is staffed by Diabetes Educators, Dietitians, Visiting Podiatrists and Clerical staff.

Outpatient (Ambulatory) Services

  • Individual patient consultation with diabetes educator
  • Individual and Group education sessions with dietitian
  • Group education session with podiatrist
  • Insulin initiation and stabilisation
  • Transition Diabetes and Metabolic Disorder Clinics
  • Clinics for young adults with Type 1 diabetes
  • Clinics for people with metabolic disorders
  • Endocrine diagnostic service
  • Hormone implants
  • Outreach education services at Community Health Centres 

Hospital Inpatient Services

  • Education and support for Westmead hospital inpatients and/or their family and carers

Referrals

  • A Doctor's referral is not necessary (but is encouraged) to access the education services
  • A Doctor's referral is necessary for the Endocrine Diagnostic Testing Services and specialist clinics
