Why volunteer?

Volunteers perform countless tasks that add that extra special touch to a patients’ journey.  They make a significant contribution by engaging in patient, client, staff and community activities.

Volunteers between the ages of 18  and 80 plus devote their time and talents over the two campus’s that make up Blacktown Mount Druitt Hospital to serve and assist patients, visitors and staff.  By engaging in patient and client activities, volunteers are a link between the clinical and nursing services, and together form a holistic approach to the quality health care that people need.

Volunteers can offer a diverse variety of life experiences through the provision of support services directly to patients, clients, staff and members of the community and through fundraising for special equipment purchases.

Benefits of volunteering

Volunteering offers benefits such as flexible hours, opportunity to support existing and new services and programs, cross cultural experiences, meeting people, satisfaction, learn or develop new skills, enhance professional resume/cv and possibly a pathway to paid employment.
