Salary Packaging

Salary Packaging increases take home pay and reduces your tax.

Western Sydney LHD employees may choose to salary package as an award entitlement. Under Fringe Benefit Tax legislation, staff working in a public health facility can salary package many living expenses. Salary Packaging allows staff to have these expenses deducted from their gross pay (before tax pay) thus reducing taxable income.

This tax concession is designed to attract and retain staff working in public hospitals by allowing tax concessions (savings) that increase an employee’s take home pay without increasing the wages cost of the employer.

Meal Entertainment

Staff can claim personal meal entertainment expenses as a salary packaging benefit.  This is a fringe benefit tax concession that is available to Local Health District Employees as an award entitlement.

Claims can be made for food and drink costing more than $15 purchased for two or more people at:

  • a restaurant
  • private gathering, or
  • a catered function

Novated Leasing

Our Local Health District has four vehicle leasing providers for staff to choose from allowing you to pay the finance and running costs of the car out of your pre-tax salary.

Learning and Development Leave 

Have leave granted to undertake tertiary studies at an accredited educational institution or leave granted to attend external activities, such as conferences, seminars, and short courses.

Smoke Free Environment

We are committed to providing a smoke free workplace and all hospital campuses, including the grounds, are smoke free environments. We provide assistance to staff to help them to quit smoking.
