Research in this division covers general to specialised surgical techniques, epidemiological studies, and basic laboratory research.

Anaesthetics and Perioperative Medicine:

  Centre for the Evaluation of Surgical Outcomes: epidemiological studies encompassing pre- and post-surgery, translation and innovation. Contact A/Prof Kerry Hitos
  Vascular Biology: Research is focused on understanding wound healing in particular the vascular wounds such as atherosclerosis and intimal hyperplasia. Contact Dr Heather Medbury

Ophthalmology:
  A/Prof Healey is responsible for managing glaucoma studies as part of this project. Dr Andrew White is undertaking research into neuroprotective agents in glaucoma and the mechanisms behind glaucoma pathogenesis. Glaucoma Unit in the Outpatients Clinic as well as in the operating suite which is dedicated to day surgery eye cases.
