Allied and Community Health is LHD-wide, with research happening in the hospital departments, at the Community Health Centres and across the community. Their research, based on collaborative, innovative and academic practices, covers all ages, pre- and post-injury and treatment, nutrition and dietetics, ethnicity, lifestyle, physiotherapy and occupational therapy. N&M research is taking place throughout WSLHD. Some of the current research goals include the promotion of nursing involvement in translational research in nursing and midwifery, developing a culture of nursing & midwifery research, and develop collaborative research projects. The WSLHD Pharmacy Directorate comprises the pharmacy departments of Auburn, Cumberland, Blacktown Mt Druitt and Westmead Hospitals. Pharmacy has a strong leadership role in the quality use of medicines. Local quality projects and audits are part of our bread and butter. Pharmacy plays a very important role in clinical research, supporting over 100 clinical trials at Westmead Hospital alone. Please direct any research enquiries to REN.
