- STAR Canteen
STAR (Support, Training, Action, Results) Canteen works in partnership with schools and canteen operators to foster a healthy food and drink culture within schools whilst minimising impact on profit.
SALSA (Students As LifeStyle Activists) is a secondary school peer-led educational intervention program led by WSLHD Primary Health Care Education & Research Unit (PERU) and is supported by Population Health. It aims to provide high school students with the necessary knowledge and skills to maintain a balanced and healthy lifestyle. Find out about SALSA at the University of Sydney website.
- Active Travel
Two western Sydney secondary schools are taking part in a pilot which aims to increase the number of students actively commuting to and from school. With benefits extending beyond health and into the classroom, the Department of Education, Parramatta Council and Population Health are working with students to develop and implement an active travel plan.
- Health Promoting Schools (E) Network
A monthly email update providing information on workshops, events and services relevant for schools and those working with young people in Western Sydney & Nepean Local Health Districts that support student health and wellbeing.
- Get Healthy Service
The Get Healthy service is a free, phone-based coaching service aimed at supporting NSW adults, 16 years or older to make lifestyle changes regarding healthy eating and physical activity.
