About Blacktown & Mount Druitt hospitals

Blacktown Hospital provides a 24-hour emergency service, intensive and high dependency care, sub-specialty acute medical and surgical care, obstetrics and newborn care and sub-acute rehabilitation. Inpatient acute mental health and community mental health services are delivered from Bungarribee House.

Mount Druitt Hospital offers 24-hour emergency care, and a district-wide role in the provision of planned surgery, with a high proportion of general, orthopaedic and breast surgery. It has the highest volume of paediatric emergency and medicine attendances of any facility in WSLHD.

Blacktown & Mount Druitt Hospitals (BMDH) have a close working relationship with Western Sydney University with a Clinical School located at Blacktown Hospital to develop medical students to work as fully accredited doctors and specialists in western Sydney.

Blacktown and Mount Druitt hospitals are undergoing a multimillion dollar redevelopment to meet the growing needs of the community.

The multi-award winning Blacktown & Mount Druitt Hospitals Expansion Project is changing the way we care for our community.

It includes a major development of existing and new services to meet increasing demand and reduce the need to travel out of the area for treatment.

Stage 2 is underway with the planning of the acute services building due for completion in 2019.

A foundation is being established to maximise local corporate and community relationships and to undertake fundraising and increase awareness for the continued development of health promotion, education, research and medical equipment.

More than $300,000 was raised during 2016-17 from a variety of sources including corporations, individuals and grants. Funds enabled the purchase of medical devices and the establishment of support programs to assist our patients.
